All Questions Answered
Label: Stones Throw

Release Date: 06/27/06

Remember in the mid-90s when it seemed like West Coast Underground was going to take over the world? Before the Alkaholiks were the ‘Liks, when Xzibit rapped about sell-outs rather than being one, Madlib was that little cat from the Lootpack and Dilated Peoples were revolutionaries- remember that? Roc C remembers that shit, too.

Hailing from the now legendary Oxnard Crew (Madlib, Oh No, Med, etc), the newest Stones Throw signee brings the true flavor of West Coast Underground to the forefront. All Questions Answered is a little bit gangsta combined with incredible mic skills and a ton of stellar production heavy on the boom boom bap. A fitting description of Roc (as well as an easy one) would be Ras Kass mixed with Murs combined with Chino XL (who appears on the El Capitan remix) with better production than all three. Roc C’s incredible flow is the centerpiece of All Questions Answered as he raps rapid-fire alongside Bizzy Bone and gets smoked out and grimy on the low with Aloe Blacc and Pok Dog. The record’s best tracks, of course, are the collaborations with Stones Throw weirdos Kankick and Dudley Perkins whose spaced out personalities balance out Roc’s hard edged delivery, making it easier to swallow. Back in the day I would have gotten so excited about this record, skipping to the posse cuts first while reading the liner notes on the toilet. Ten years later it’s a little more nostalgia than revolution, but Hip Hop can use a little nostalgia now and again.
