Boris - Pink

Boris Pink Label: Southern Lord Release Date: 05/16/06 |
Boris are quickly becoming one of those artists who
release a new album, what seems like every other
month. In 2005 alone, they released 4+ albums. If a
band is making consistently awesome and different
music, this is good thing. And Boris have never had a
problem with their albums sounding the same, but one
negative result of releasing this many albums a year
is, sometimes it takes a while for their music to
reach us in states. But after a more than a year of
wait, Pink is final here…and not $40!
The wait was totally worth it too.
Pink is full tilt fuzzed out guitar riffs, and speaker
blown vocals, that are catchier than shit. And where
most bands these days clean up the sounds created by
yesteryears bearer’s of heavy and saw the edges off.
Boris tear off what they like, and play it best they
can.
And like always, they have to add more to the mix than
simple stoner riffs. Boris injects plenty of their
signature Drone/Ambient side too. Playing beautiful
mellow washes of acoustic sound (My machine), Heavy
Gorgeous dirge, reminding me of Jesu (Farewell), and
Glorious Drone (Just Abandoned My-Self). Making this
album a wide variety of things heavy and epic.
As you can probably tell, I love this band. They are
band that take the dirtiest feedback, and heaviest
Drone and make it beautiful. This is their most
accessible album to date, and I not sure how anyone
could not like it.

As not the biggest fan of heavy music, I have to say that this record is, at times, exceptionally brilliant and atmospheric. And always spooky. Impeccable taste, HSD.

So far I think this sounds like what everyone wanted Team Sleep to sound like. Or, at least, expected Team Sleep to sound like.
