June 12, 2007 - RM No. 73

Dear Friends and Lovers,

Today we sincerely announce the indefinite slumber of your record store Relative Theory Records, 271 Granby St. - Norfolk, Virginia 23510. It is not sustainable for we must let it go. During this time we shall reside on the interweb while we assess this cultural climate and search for a new home. We will maintain our website and continue to send out our weekly new music email newsletter while continuing the sale of goods via our Relative Web Store. We hope this will suffice in our physical absence. We will be making improvements to our webstore in addition to making our community develop with a stronger local focus. We will also continue to bring the best in new music to perform live at the Boot as well as nurture the growing talent of our city. Our ideas are of a natural progression and we will continue to aid the unheard. Thank you to all those who gave their support the past four years.

June 30 - the COMA begins.

Time: 9pm
Tickets: $5
Where: The Boot

oh my supple bones .

It is safe to say that this will be the most heart breaking show of the year. If you have not heard Chris Garneau's new album Music For Tourists then you must not have a strong hold on your heart chakra. So simple and poignant that his solicitous voice could only make you recognize your true endeavors. Why am I really doing this? What is slowing me down? What are my faults? This rain on my car is the baptism of the new me! Okay I have seen Say Anything too many times. Local stuntboywonder TC will be on the bill as {}[]() showing his tender experimental side. This show is a big deal - dont miss a second.

Time: 9pm

Where: The Boot

oh steamy like a latin sauna .

Who saw Fight The Big Bull play at the Boot last month? It was a seriously like hanging out in the sauna but you get one of those little motorized fans before you walk in. All kinds of kids mixing up different concoctions to dump on the rocks. Oh the steam is so sweet and my skin is a glow but yet I can breathe like a magician trapped underwater for 28 days which in short is to say I can breathe like always. My love affair with the mysterious grows deep roots they pour that sweet mixture on the rocks. Come let us camp in the hot springs on this night right here at the Boot.

oh the choco taco strikes again .

Simply said this will be a foot shuffling sweat fest. It is nice to know we will be buring out bright on this last month. To see some of the best the east coast has in thrashy jazz, southern shred, powerpop garage, and heavy sass will be a tight jean paradise. See you Saturday.

oh how we buzz the flowertops.

Finally getting these Richmond rockers to take the stage at Relative. You may have seen some conformation of them a year ago as Prabir and The Substitutes also make up members of This Train Won't Slow Down. Its dance rock with a little bit of swagger so you can stay cool even though you are really geekin out on the amount of homework you haven't done. Just kidding! school's out McFly! see you at the show!
