Episode No. 10 - Patio Panic

Relative Love
Episode: Patio Panic
Hi-res Cover Art: here

Description: This week we learned a few new things one being the creation of Beirut follows the creation of A Hawk And A Hacksaw. Now we are able to dig deeper in our ever expanding love for such creations. Beck’s new album is here and we are happy about that as well as his continued work with Michael Gondry. Also The Slats release the party record of the year. Not dance party, maybe pizza party, definitely pool party. Also for some reason this podcast is lame and has no artwork or links.

Features: El Goodo, The Curtains, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Building Anna, Beck, The Slats and more

Episode No. 8 - Fancy Sampling

Relative Love
Episode:Fancy Sampling
Hi-res Cover Art: here

Description: The sample that Eluvium uses is from The Burbs back when Tom Hanks was awesome. Not that he is not awesome still but he certainly is not childish and rowdy anymore - all serious. Cool I guess, he’s getting old. Grizzly Bear drops their new record and it is fantastic like an adult dream with Snow White - not sexy just more adult like telling the 7 dwarves to start car pooling. The Big Sleep is absolutely amazing but we think it is the last record this year we can take coming from the instrumental psychedelic post rock genre. Ratatat trumps their last record with more guitars but less video gamey. That might be what everyone loved about the last record but it made the value wear out. Get your download on.

Features: Yo La Tengo, Eluvium, Grizzly Bear, The Big Sleep, Ratatat, Indian Jewelry, M Ward and more.

Or hurts, yes, so smooth it hurts. By the way Tortoise is on here because they just had an incredible limited edition box set come out which is 3 CDs and 1 DVD for only $19.98. Damn those guys know how to deliver. Also a member of Early Day Miners started a new project called A Tundra - check it out.

Episode No. 6 - Reaping For Something

Relative Love
Episode:Reaping For Something
Hi-res Cover Art: here

Description: We read somewhere recently and have heard elsewhere that the new Comets On Fire is for lame people who wish they grew up in the 70s. Well first of all it is not lame to wish that, and it is not lame to like Comets on Fire. It is possible to be lame and wish you grew up in the 70s though. It’s a psychedelic jam explosion and definitely for fans of Pink Floyd (more or less). Our Brother The Native is a new wild young bunch getting out there through Fat Cat and we have heard they are incredible live. We threw in some instrumental hip hop and latin jazz for your liking as well. A note to some customer feedback: Do not hate on African and Latin vibes or we will sleight you.

Features: Hot Snakes, Comets on Fire, Ayatolla, The Black Swans, Our Brother the Native, Les Savy Fav, Ocote Soul Sounds and more.

Episode No. 5 - The Natural Life

Relative Love
Episode:The Natural Life
Hi-res Cover Art: here

Description: We really need to better develop these themes as we do so many interesting things here at the store. From reading encyclopedias on Cro-Magnon Man to Sherlock Holmes novels - even the history of Italy - damn you Tuscany! Anyhow, new Mission of Burma is out and some other things to spotlight. Black Hollies is one of the guys from Rye Coalition doing 60s style psyche rock a la Zombies and Turtles. Oakley Hall gets their record out on new label Brah and sounds better than ever. I think we featured Dirty on Purpose in the last podcast but we are so fond of them that they get a 2nd round. Bouncing Souls have their new record and while we were hesitant only to think maybe they felt a need to grow up and completely ruin their sound, we were wrong and they still kick ass. As far as Aloe Blacc and Bardo Pond, we slept on those guys so if you already you should have spoke up. James Figurine is Jimmy Tamborello from Postal Service or so we think.

Features: Aloe Blacc, Delroy Wilson, Midlake, Bardo Pond, Sleepy Jackson, James Figurine, Forget Cassettes, Kashmere Stage Band, Ladyhawk and more.
