This will be the second show for Richmond’s Fight the Big Bull at the Boot. They played two amazing sets (mp3 below) for us back on May 11th. For those of you who missed the show or are unaware of who FtBB are their bio is hilarious and spot on. “An amalgamation of saxophones, trombones, trumpet, guitar, bass, and drums, Fight the Big Bull is a display of spontaneous emotion filled with powerful significance and baptized in the traditions of the music. They are a band with such a wide palate of emotions that your tin heart cannot escape being moved - a freaky gospel choir/dance band full of horns and love that you should never ever miss. They are also marvelous people who are very charming conversationalists and operate with the understanding that in a world flooded with production and marketing all people want is to hear the truth - Fight the Big Bull has a very big heart, too big to lie.”

The main fighter of the bull is Matt White, whom you may know from folk-progers, The Great White Jenkins. As long as we have known Matt, he has always had an interest in afro-beat / pop, ethio jazz & musique, and indigenious music. And from my time listening to FtBB, I can hear him drawing from those influences as well as some New Orleans Brass and ragtime.

This is a tight unit of some of the best players in Richmond and they are performing some really great music. We are extremely honored to be hosting these guys and we encourage you to come out and experience this. Throughout the night we will be DJing the best afrobeat, tropicalia and dub.
