I refuse to let that happen. I, myself, will donate all of my wages to the store and even buy a Milli Vanilli record if it will help. You got Blame It on the Rain as a single?

Sure the scene goes on but what happens when one of the biggest proponents is gone? Will the scene be there? Sure. Will the scene be as strong? I don't think so. If the scene isn't strong enough to support this store and keep it alive, then how much longer can it keep itself going. Sure the love for the music will always be there. That isn't dependent on a business, but it would be a MAJOR asset gone. Man, we sound like Relative is going out of business!

not to sound bad but.... ther was a scene here before relative. josh and dave are my boys but if they go the scene moves on. the store is a awesome outlet. we should not just rely on the store restraunt or even the fucking norva. have a show at your house, book a show you wanna see at your house! i know i have. you like an artist get em a show make contacts.it can be done. this sounds kinda bad but its not meant to be. you could always make fliers for shows that you think will be good at the norva. i mean if a band does come here and there is 50 people at the show (like when i saw super fury animals at the norva) do you think they want to come back.. fuck no. but if there is 50 people there and 10 people busted there ass and fucking worked hard at doing fliers. they might come back.. just my opinion now rail on me . for being old and jaded.

Haha I saw the teaser for the emo thing and laughed to myself. I figured it was gonna be a very corporate slant on the whole trend, the very annoying trend. I know what your saying about the importance Relative also. I have had talks with Dave and Josh about how if it leaves, there is NO HOPE for this area. They are the most knowledgeable, fun group of guys and if they can't make it work, I can't see anybody come in and make it work. I am moving to North Carolina and I can truly say that Relative/Boot will be the only things I miss about this area. I think your description is spot on "we’d all be redneck zombies with Calvin pissing stickers, confederate flags, and truck balls." and it gets very annoying.
Like you said Brad, we just have to tell anyone who will listen about the benefits of these places and hope for the best.

I think it's always going to be difficult to get a bunch of people out, b/c we dont' have a decent radio station around here to promote it and despite my repeated discouraging remarks, people still listen to things like Nickelback. It's a backwards, messed-up world when Nickelback sells out the Hampton Coliseum and the Decemberists don't sell out the Norva.

The whole Relative Theory philosophy (The Boot, the shows at RTR, the art, the record store, etc.) is just something that continually blows my mind. It's something that every city needs. Especially the Hampton Roads area. Otherwise, we'd all be redneck zombies with Calvin pissing stickers, confederate flags, and truck balls. So, I think we all need to do our part to try and support RTR and get people out to the shows. Easier said than done, but if RTR ever leaves, we're stuck with a small Plan 9 in W'burg, the Internet, and Best Buy/Circuit City. Might as well be living in Mad Max as far as I'm concerned.

I'll never understand people who are content having everything dictated to them. Music, TV, movies, etc.

Did anyone see the report last night on channel 3 about emo kids being a danger to society? It went like this. "Parents, do you know what emo is? Punk music + skinny pants + black hair = Huge Problem. Tonight on Channel 3 news." Are you serious?

I second that. Unfortunately I had to work both The Decemberists, and the Spree show but those are two really cool shows that I dearly wanted to go to. I just hope the turnouts get better to keep encouraging shows like these to happen.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Polyphonic Spree show was absolutely incredible. Not a great turnout, but the people that were there certainly loved it. Please keep working to get indie bands to the Norva and the Boot. Although I do love ICP and former American Idol contestants, I have to admit that the shows you sponsor are a tad better than that. Relative Theory, you're my hero.
