I remember you, when you loved freedom too.

As of late, it seems to me that punk rock reunions are becoming less embarrassing and more worthwhile and fun to see. Do you think seeing a band like Lifetime(who are on the reunion parade) can compare to the mess that it is to see the Exploited or GBH pogo on stage with grey mohawks? I hope not.
Anyways, American Steel, who were one of the most criminally underrated bands on the Lookout! Records roster, played their first show in over five years on May 4th. The Bay Area-based band broke up in 2002 and later spawned acts like Pirx the Pilot and Communique. Surprisingly, it won’t be their only show, as there are quite a few lined up and word on the street is that a new album might come out on Fat Wreck Chords.
Do yourself a favor and check out what was supposed to be their final release, Jagged Thoughts, which was released in 2001. The album combined new wave flirting, a late 1970s mod revival sophistication, and Clash-inspired punk rock into a listener friendly experience. Does it sound familiar? Well, Against Me! is taking a similar vibe straight to the bank, which if you ask me, is bummer-rific.
Keep your fingers crossed for a national tour.
