Spider-Man the Musical

< author: g booker >

This idea is apparently really happening. What’s more it’s going to be awesome. For one thing its about Spider-Man, and they’re somehow going to have to figure out how to depict webslinging in the confines of the stage musical. There is probably nobody better to do this than director Julie Taymor, who took an animated epic about animals in Africa and made it into a Broadway musical that was somehow much cooler than the movie, and then took one of Shakespeare’s worst plays and made it into the most entertaining film adaptation of his work ever. Songs by Bono and The Edge of U2. This is all true.

Taymor is also in the process of taking her name off a movie she recently finished directing called Across the Universe. It’s a musical using Beatles Songs (note: musical is NOT about teh beatles) and the previews made it look pretty amazing. however, the producers recut her movie to be shorter or more understandable or something and I believe she’s taking her name off it. Check it out on apple trailers or imdb.

frida was rilly good, and titus is one of my favorites.

i’m sure her beatles jukebox musical will be entertaining despite studio meddling.

i’m really looking forward to todd haynes’ radical dylan biopic coming up.

i don’t particularly like the beatles or bob dylan, but i love film, and julie taymor and todd haynes both have a record of making sweet love to it.
