One of the more delightful discoveries from the latest mp3 roundup was the new track from Antibalas, “I.C.E.” Their latest album, “Security,” is now available, which should please fans of groove and passion. Antibalas is a modern American Afrobeat band/orchestra that includes some of the finest players in New York, many of whom play in the various Daptone soul ensembles as well. With previous albums like “Talkatif” and notoriously epic live performances, Antibalas has proven that they more than hold a candle to the classic Afrobeat ensembles of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen. The cover and song titles promise scorching political outrage, and the musicians promise scorching, ass shaking funk.
