Trans AM
< author: g booker >
Long before dance rock was the new old little big thing, Trans Am was indulging in their passions for wanky guitar shredding, drum machines, live rock drumming, synthesizers and goofy electronic noises, and vocoders. For a band that doesn’t always come off as the most serious or sincere, they have amassed quite a catalog of great music. Their latest, “Sex Change,” is pretty extraordinary, with sticky synth funk workouts, driving, effervescent grooves, soaring rock ragers, a few robot jams, and a healthy sense of playfulness. This is an undeniably cool sounding record, probably their best since “Red Line.”
