Now available at Relative, Glissade, a quintet hailing from Greensboro, NC., are transcending the realms of Post Rock and Neo-Psychedelia. Glissade, make an earnest attempt in combining the acid waves of early Pink Floyd, the sonic noise of Slowdive, and the kraut sensibilities of Pharaoh Overlord. They form waves of hypnotic and minimalistic bliss and [...]
this is so very nice for a Summer Sunday evening, playing Relative on July 9th. I have listened to these songs many times over as they roll me around in the hay all day by the bay, hmmm I just may. So beautiful that move and so beautiful this music.

been meaning to post about this thing for a few weeks now and happy to finally get around to it. The site has great content and exclusive live sessions with choice bands like Catfish Haven, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, The Impossible Shapes, Drakkar Sauna, Hockey Night, Casiotone For The Painfully Alone, The [...]
Yesterday I was gloriously reunited with a childhood favorite. I love the acapella breakdown at the end. Right now j dub and I have a thing on the bachburner (like the backburner except j.s. bach keeps the fire burning) called “Workin’ on an Afro” and it is all banjo/moog experiments. This [...]
Not to be confused with that lil blue mo-fo from Seseme Street, Grover Washington, Jr. is one of the most sampled jazz artists in the history of history. Lemme go back… In the beginning there were Bob James, Roy Ayres, and Grover Washington, Jr. These men (sexist as it may be) comprised the holy trinity [...]
Steely Dan

Label: MCARelease Date: 1982
Steely Dan (aka The Dan) has been obscenely misrepresented by your pop’s so-called classic rock station; “Reeling in the Years” doesn’t even count. Exhibit A: emcees and producers have been fooling with the Dan for a minute now. [...]
Woah. We’ve been sent links to THIS several times over, and we’re stunned. Seems someone has got a hold of the original clip for White Unicorn by Wolfmother and has gone completely mad on it, drawing all manner of dildo’s, sharks, ships and er, shit, all over the clip! The results are absolutely immature, puerile, [...]
in case you haven’t seen this yet - it’s power reminds me of Baba O’Riley by The Who. oh the sweet glowing orb that is My Morning Jacket.

Brooklyn’s finest, Oneida, have a new album, Happy New Year, coming out on Jagjag, July 11th.
This will be Oneida’s tenth release and their most focused, coherent, and accessible. Sonic-krautscapes with a mechanical and electronic extremeity, that make you want to dance or watch two robots make love.

The Overrated book is brought to you by the staff of Chunklet Magazine, a paragon of satire for the holy cows of underground music and culture. Since the early 90s, the magazine has mercilessly lampooned the music industry, and is one of the most loved reads for the hippest bands and music aficionados.
The Relative appended note on this 1977 LP I bought for $.98 contained only a few good-natured ribs at disco and the whistle blowing sirens gracing the cover. Of course, Relatives cheeky lack of gravity and insight is often what makes their cocky proclamations so charming.
alright so i got the second Podcast done - this one should be weekly. So here you go.
