The first 5
< author: david >
maybe you wonder what inspires Relative Theory Records. Where do their ideas come from you ask? It’s hard to be innovative these days with all this tv to watch. This will be my weekly post where I write about 5 things that change my perspective or just cause a spark. It will be interesting to document the growth of ideas.
Shawn Creeden
he plays like 50 different instruments, which means he can probably play all instruments, he just has to wait until he encounters all instruments. his bands include: sparrows swarm and sing - upside down cross - bad business social club. co-owner of sinking ship clothing which produces hand printed and hand sewn cotton garments for women. he made the bird banjo illustration which is now my official try harder logo. he is 24 and my new hero.

Tom Brosseau
this man is causing that glow you wish surrounded your every morning step. his comparisons are the americana jeff buckley or the woodie guthrie that gets free panties instead of free train rides. seriously folks this fellow stands very tall above the rest. my lover has died and i will walk this land in search of new breath with my dog along side. i will see. i will see. i will see.

Wax Poetics
one of the best combinations of topic and design. i won’t say the writing is top notch but i will say they certainly know what to talk about. a conversation with a friend about a week ago brought about the fact that we hardly ever finish an article in wax poetics due to a slow surmise of facts but we always can’t wait to read what knowledge they are dropping. i suppose it’s just hard for crate diggers to turn their lives into a page turning event. i can’t write either.

The Drama
they always turn me on. always. now that being said the only negative thing i can say about the drama is i wish their magazine had a little more organization because whenever i go to show someone something i saw i can never find it. but maybe that’s just me. i won’t bother sending this criticism to the editor because i really dont think it is constructive and leans more towards my own aberrations.

Andy Mueller
i first saw this kid’s designs in upper playground and was immediately struck by a desire to live in balance with nature. so i went to check his stuff out and found that he runs “the quiet life” a photography club which i stumbled across a year before. things fell into place and i began to realize why the name was so familiar. someone said to me just last week that passion is more attractive than money and he just so happened to steal the words right out of my mouth.
